Also expected to start Sunday is Texans leading tackler, rookie Brian Cushing, who has been limited by a foot injury in practice this week.

Schaub expects WR Johnson to play

Posted by Chris Brown on October 28, 2009 – 4:01 pm

Texans WR Andre Johnson may not have practiced on Wednesday, but that doesn’t mean his quarterback is worried about whether he’ll play on Sunday.

When asked by the Buffalo media if he expected Johnson to suit up on Sunday he gave the following answer.

“I fully expect him to be ready to go,” said Schaub. “He’s a tough guy and he’s a leader on this team and wants to be out there every single snap. Even after what he went through the other day he tried to sneak back out and get back in the huddle for one more play, before they had to hide his helmet. I expect him to be ready to go and for me as a quarterback to have a guy like him, it’s incredible to play alongside a guy that has his ability and work ethic and his drive. He just makes everyone else around him better.”

Johnson currently leads the league in receiving yardage.

Texans Johnson says he’s fine

Posted by Chris Brown on October 27, 2009 – 9:18 pm

Houston WR Andre Johnson was coughing up blood on the sideline late in the Texans win over San Francisco last week. His lung contusion was enough to have him briefly hospitalized for observation. But in one of his latest twitter posts he assures that he’s much better now.

johnson80: The bruised lung is doing fine. I feel better.

Johnson was called day-to-day by his head coach Gary Kubiak. We’ll have an update Wednesday afternoon as to whether he practiced with the team or not right here. Obviously he’s a key component to Houston’s offense.

Texans Johnson injury update

Posted by Chris Brown on October 26, 2009 – 9:32 pm

Houston WR Andre Johnson’s chest contusion is a bit more internal than it sounds.

Head coach Gary Kubiak called it a “lung contusion” and is hopeful that Johnson will be able to play Sunday at Buffalo.

A lung contusion would explain why he was coughing up blood after taking a big hit in Houston’s Sunday win over San Francisco.

I’d imagine if he’s well enough to practice he’d be participating on a non-contact basis.

Andre Johnson status for Sunday

Posted by Chris Brown on October 26, 2009 – 10:34 am

For those that missed it Texans WR Andre Johnson was briefly hospitalized Sunday for a chest contusion that had him coughing up blood.

According to the Houston Chronicle however, he should be fine to play this Sunday.

Terrence McGee also had a chest contusion coming out of last week’s game and played this past Sunday. Of course a receiver might be more vulnerable to big hits, but Johnson is a manchild at 6’3″ 225.
