Kyle using the floor for back relief

Posted by Chris Brown on December 16, 2016 – 12:23 pm

Kyle Williams is listed as questionable and will probably be a game time decision for Sunday according to head coach Rex Ryan. The defensive tackle did manage to practice on a limited basis Friday. He’s been making heavy use of the floor this week when he’s off his feet instead of a couch or bed.

“It went alright (Friday),” said Williams. “I’m not going to be entering any weight lifting competitions, but it went okay.”

Williams said he’ll test his back Sunday morning to see how it feels. Between now and Sunday, he said he’ll be laying low, quite literally.

“I’ll be laying on my floor at my house,” said Williams. “I can’t lie on too soft a surface or the muscle issues will come on. I’ve been laying on the floor a lot.”

Clay, Z. Brown, Watkins all limited

Posted by Chris Brown on December 15, 2016 – 3:02 pm

Sammy Watkins and Charles Clay got back on the practice field Thursday after missing Wednesday’s session, but neither were full go.

Clay and Watkins along with Zach Brown were limited in practice Thursday. Kyle Williams did not practice for a second straight day.

Head coach Rex Ryan was asked if he had any elevated concern about Williams availability Sunday with him missing the first two days of practice this week.

“No, he seems to be doing pretty good, so we’ll see,” said Ryan. “If we’re going to lose him so to speak it’s not going to be on the practice field, it’s going to be on the game field.”

Williams missed last week’s game due to back spasms and has not practice yet this week.

Ihedigbo added to injury report

Posted by Chris Brown on December 12, 2016 – 5:56 pm

The Bills safety position has been hard hit by injury and another one came out of Sunday’s loss to Pittsburgh.

James Ihedigbo sustained an ankle injury. He’ll be on the injury report this week. There was no update on his availability for practice this week. More will be known on Wednesday.

If he can’t go at safety it’s likely that Jonathan Meeks and Corey White will split time at safety this weekend alongside Corey Graham.

There was also no update on Kyle Williams availability after he missed Sunday’s game with back spasms. LB Lerentee McCray is still in concussion protocol.

Rex concerned about Kyle’s availability

Posted by Chris Brown on December 9, 2016 – 12:45 pm

DT Kyle Williams did not practice Friday due to back problems and is questionable for Sunday’s game. Head coach Rex Ryan admits the defense may not have their veteran leader this weekend.

“I’m concerned. I think it was last night it locked up on him,” said Ryan. “We’ll have to see how that goes, but that’s obviously a big concern.”

If Williams cannot go it’s likely that Jerel Worthy steps in for him on run downs and Leger Douzable on pass downs.

“Luckily we have Marcell back. We have Douzable. We’ll be fine with that group,” said Ryan. “Worthy will have to step up in a role. We activated Coleman last week, so he’ll be up too. We’re fortunate that we’re pretty healthy in that spot. It’s hard to replace Kyle, but we’ll do the best we can if we have to.”

Kyle Williams is currently fourth on the team in tackles and tied for second in tackles for loss.

Brandon Spikes did not practice on Friday due to illness and is also questionable.

Watkins does not participate Wed.

Posted by Chris Brown on November 30, 2016 – 3:47 pm

He was scheduled to participate on a limited basis in Wednesday’s practice, just as he did all of last week, but after telling athletic trainers of soreness in his foot, they pulled him from the practice field and Sammy Watkins did not practice at all Wednesday.

Head coach Rex Ryan has said multiple times they’re going to take a cautious approach with Watkins, and that proved to be the case on Wednesday. As for his status on Sunday, his participation or lack thereof in practice Thursday should shed more light on Watkins’ chances of being available.

Watkins was seen in Buffalo’s locker room and he appeared to be walking just fine. His foot wasn’t wrapped or anything.

Buffalo’s offense is already down Robert Woods (knee) and Percy Harvin (migraines). Neither of them practiced Wednesday. They called up WR Dez Lewis from the practice squad Tuesday after losing WR Walt Powell to an ankle injury. He was placed on injured reserve.

Here’s Buffalo’s injury report for Wednesday

Gillislee out, Watkins availability looks promising

Posted by Chris Brown on November 25, 2016 – 1:25 pm

Bills RB Mike Gillislee sustained a hamstring injury in Wednesday’s practice and left the session early. He didn’t practice again and is now out for Sunday’s game against Jacksonville. The good news is it appears that Sammy Watkins will be able to play on Sunday.

“I think he’s good to go,” said head coach Rex Ryan of Watkins in relation to Sunday’s game. “He won’t have a full workload, but we’re definitely going to get him in there.”

All the Bills need to do now is move Watkins from injured reserve onto the active roster. They have until 4 pm on Saturday to do so.

RB LeSean McCoy also looks good to go for Sunday, feeling no ill effects from the minor procedure on his thumb to get his dislocation from last week’s game corrected. Jonathan Williams and Reggie Bush will be McCoy’s backups.

Dareus: For me Monday night is TBD

Posted by Chris Brown on November 3, 2016 – 2:52 pm

Marcell Dareus headlined the list of non-participants at practice Thursday. Unfortunately for Dareus it’s a new injury. Up until last Sunday it was a hamstring injury that kept him sidelined, but now Dareus has a groin injury.

“Man, if it’s not one thing, it’s another,” said a frustrated Dareus. “I’m just constantly trying to stay strong and be here for my guys and get better.”

Dareus said that he injured his groin on one of the last plays of the game when he tackled LeGarrette Blount. As for playing on Monday night, Dareus said that decision has not yet been made.

“It’s to be determined right now,” said Dareus. “I’m steadily working with it and steadily working at it, trying to get it to a point where I can go.”

Here’s a look at the practice participation for Thursday.
