Darby probable for Sunday

Posted by Chris Brown on January 1, 2016 – 12:55 pm

Bills CB Ronald Darby has improved as the week has gone on in his return from a groin injury that kept him out of last week’s game.

Darby is listed as probable for Sunday’s game. Head coach Rex Ryan feels a lot better about his options with one of his top corners ready to roll.

“Thank goodness,” said Ryan of Darby’s availability. “That’s one where he’s healthy enough and he wants to compete against some great receivers. That’s what your great competitors do and he’s worked to get to this point and it looks like he’ll be ready to go. Having Darby back is big. It got a lot better for us having him back.”

Darby is expected to start opposite veteran Leodis McKelvin, which leaves Nickell Robey as the nickel and Mario Butler as the fourth corner for Sunday. Bud Noel and Sammy Seamster are in reserve.

The Bills had a new non-participant for Thursday’s practice. OT Cordy Glenn was not in attendance due to illness.

Bills head coach Rex Ryan doesn’t believe the illness will keep Glenn from playing against the Jets on Sunday.

“No,” said Ryan. “It says illness, but I’m hoping he plays. It’s going to be hard for him not to play.”

LeSean McCoy and Nigel Bradham both were not able to practice Thursday, but John Miller and Ronald Darby both practice on a limited basis.

Darby limited Wednesday

Posted by Chris Brown on December 30, 2015 – 2:24 pm

Bills head coach Rex Ryan is hopeful that Ronald Darby will be able to return from a groin injury after missing last week’s game. On Wednesday he was a limited participant in practice.

“We’ll see how he progresses during the week,” said Ryan. “I hope he can play. I know how competitive he is, and going up against great players like Decker and Brandon Marshall—from a competitive standpoint you want to put yourself against the best—he’d love to do that. We all know that about Darby.”

Knowing how productive the Jets passing game has been over the last month and a half Buffalo would like to have as many of their corners available as possible, especially their best one still on the roster.

How much Darby participates on Thursday will go a long way in determining his likelihood of playing Sunday after seeing some action Wednesday. Here’s the rest of Buffalo’s injury report from Wednesday

Ryan not ruling out McCoy yet

Posted by Chris Brown on December 24, 2015 – 2:29 pm

For the second straight day LeSean McCoy did not practice due to a knee injury. Head coach Rex Ryan admitted it doesn’t look good for the Bills to have their Pro Bowl running back on Sunday, but he’s not yet going to rule him out for the Cowboys game.

“We’re practicing like we won’t have him (Sunday),” said Ryan. “But if he’s ready to roll and the docs think he’s good then obviously we’ll reconsider. But you expect the other guys to step up and we’re prepared to go either way.”

Ryan said they’re weighing the benefits of McCoy playing in games that don’t have any meaning for the postseason against wanting to win their last two this season.

“I think you look at all those things,” he said. “We’re trying to win these games, but we’re not going to put a guy out there who’s hurt. We’re not going to put him out on the field if a guy’s injured and that’s any player.”

He’s missed the last two games with a high ankle sprain, but rookie G John Miller was out on the practice field Wednesday. He was listed as a limited participant, but it’s his plan to return to the lineup on Sunday in Philadelphia.

“That’s the plan going into it,” said Miller of possibly playing Sunday. “I’m feeling pretty good. Just staying in the treatment room, working out, getting treatment, staying after to make sure I keep my mobility and flexibility on it. I’m feeling pretty good now.”

Seantrel Henderson returned to practice from illness and looks likely to return to the starting lineup. If Miller comes along Buffalo’s starting five could be back together on Sunday.

Karlos, Bradham, Miller out for Sunday

The Bills will be without three starters and a key running back Sunday against the Texans. Karlos Williams, Nigel Bradham and John Miller are all out for Sunday’s game and Seantrel Henderson is doubtful, meaning that Jordan Mills will likely start at right tackle Sunday.

Buffalo is also going to call up RB Mike Gillislee from the practice squad. With Williams down the Bills have just two healthy running backs in LeSean McCoy and Boobie Dixon. That move will have to be made before 4 pm on Saturday.

Mario Williams is probable.

Mario could miss more than this week

Posted by Chris Brown on November 27, 2015 – 1:09 pm

It came as no surprise. Marcus Easley, John Miller, Kyle Williams and Mario Williams were all unable to practice this week and come Friday all four were declared out for Sunday’s game at Kansas City.

Head coach Rex Ryan confirmed their playing status following practice Friday. Ryan also said that Mario Williams could miss more than this week with his foot injury.

“That’s a possibility, but the good news is (Mario’s injury) is not a season ending one,” said Ryan. “Could he possibly miss another week? Yes, it’s a possibility, but we hope not and we’re doing everything we can to get him back.”

Richie Incognito questionable for Monday

Posted by Chris Brown on November 21, 2015 – 4:07 pm

The Bills have been a relatively healthy group up on their offensive line. Entering Monday night’s game against the Patriots their most consistent offensive lineman is questionable.

Guard Richie Incognito is questionable with a shoulder injury sustained in practice this week. He was limited in practice Friday and limited against on Saturday. If Incognito can’t go Kraig Urbik would step in at guard Monday night.

Meanwhile Leodis McKelvin and Karlos Williams were both removed from the injury report. Both practiced fully on Saturday as they each returned from illness.

Bills DB Leodis McKelvin missed a second straight day of practice due to illness and Karlos Williams also fell victim to illness at practice on Friday and was limited. But head coach Rex Ryan doesn’t see it affecting either players’ chance of playing against New England Monday night in Foxborough.

“I expect him to play,” said Ryan of McKelvin. “Same thing with Karlos.”

With the game on Monday night both McKelvin and Karlos Williams have the benefit of an extra day to prepare for the game. Here’s the updated injury report for Friday. Player status for the game will be posted Saturday with the game being on Monday night.

Bills could have issue at tackle Thursday

Posted by Chris Brown on November 11, 2015 – 1:31 pm

The good news is on Buffalo’s final injury report LeSean McCoy, Sammy Watkins and Mario Williams are all listed as probable. The bad news is the Bills could be shorthanded at offensive tackle.

Both RT Seantrel Henderson and OT Cyrus Kouandjio are both listed as questionable. Henderson has an illness and Kouandjio has a knee injury that kept him out of last week’s game.

If both are unable to play Jordan Mills would have to start at right tackle, and he and Cordy Glenn would be the only true healthy tackles on the roster.

Posted by Chris Brown on November 5, 2015 – 3:30 pm

The Bills are a good deal healthier coming out of the bye week, but it still looks as though they’ll be without DT Kyle Williams and WR Percy Harvin. Both did not practice for a second straight day and neither are expected to play Sunday.

Head coach Rex Ryan when asked if it’s safe to assume that Harvin won’t face the Dolphins said that he probably will not play. Question marks for Sunday’s game include S Corey Graham and WR Sammy Watkins. Both were limited on Thursday.

Ryan said he’s “hopeful” that Watkins can play against the Dolphins.

Mario Williams is a new addition to the injury report this week, but Ryan said he’s not concerned about Williams availability on Sunday.
