Peterman out for Sunday’s game, Benjamin ques.

Posted by Chris Brown on December 15, 2017 – 2:47 pm

It looks like Joe Webb is a lock to serve as the backup quarterback on Sunday. That’s because Nathan Peterman has been declared out for Sunday’s game on the team’s final injury report Friday.

Peterman did not clear the final step of the return-to-participation protocol this week even though he practiced fully each of the past two days. John Miller is the only other player declared out for Sunday’s game.

Meanwhile WR Kelvin Benjamin is questionable for Sunday’s game with his knee injury. He was limited in practice all week after aggravating his knee injury in last week’s snow game.

All other players who appeared on the injury report this week were full participants in practice and removed from the Friday game status report. All of them are expected to be available for the game.

Peterman practices fully, still in concussion protocol

Posted by Chris Brown on December 14, 2017 – 4:38 pm

Bills rookie QB Nate Peterman practiced for a second straight day with his teammates Thursday, but head coach Sean McDermott said at this point he remains in concussion protocol.

Peterman is currently on step 4 of the return to participation protocol, where he’s permitted to participate in football specific activities, like practice on a non-contact basis.

Step 5 of the return to participation protocol is full clearance for football activity including contact. Whether Peterman gets to that step before the end of the week remains to be seen.

Kelvin
“He’s working. He did a little bit more today than he did yesterday.”

McCoy
“I would say similar to where he was last week. He didn’t do much at all yesterday and came out today and did some things. We’re just trying to be smart overall with his situation.”

Tyrod a full participant

Posted by Chris Brown on December 13, 2017 – 2:13 pm

Tyrod Taylor was a full participant Wednesday after it was initially believed he would be a limited participant.

“At this point it’s pain tolerance. It feels good today,” Taylor said. “I expect it to continue to keep getting better. Since this happened I haven’t had any setbacks with it fortunately.”

Cordy Glenn, Andre Holmes and Kyle Williams were non-participants at practice on Wednesday.

Glenn fell ill and couldn’t participate. Holmes woke up with terrible neck stiffness and couldn’t even turn his head. Williams is dealing with a groin injury that first cropped up last week.

Kelvin Benjamin and Nate Peterman were limited as was LeSean McCoy.

Posted by Chris Brown on December 8, 2017 – 2:48 pm

It was no surprise to see Tyrod Taylor listed as questionable on Buffalo’s injury report. Joining him however, were Kyle Williams and Leonard Johnson.

Cordy Glenn and Seantrel Henderson are also listed as questionable. Henderson appears to be less likely to dress after he was unable to practice on Thursday and Friday. Glenn was limited each of the last two days.

Taylor will be a game time decision.

Benjamin, White practice fully; Kyle sits again

Posted by Chris Brown on December 7, 2017 – 3:13 pm

The news was good for Kelvin Benjamin and Tre’Davious White on Thursday. Benjamin was a full participant at practice as was White, who is not out of the concussion protocol and medically cleared for Sunday. For Benjamin it’s been difficult waiting to return to the lineup, but he’s encouraged he’ll be able to do so this week.

“I can’t wait, I just want to play ball, just finish out strong this season,” Benjamin said. “I can’t wait though, I’m anxious. I think me, the coaches, the training staff, we’re just going to come to a decision at the end of the week. We’re just taking it day by day, just taking it slow.”

Benjamin was limited on Wednesday.

Travaris Cadet was also back on the practice field and was limited as he remains in the concussion protocol.

“Still in the protocol,” said McDermott of Cadet. “He was out there going through it and he seemed like he came out okay at this point.”

Kyle Williams did not practice however, for a second straight day with a groin injury putting his status for Sunday in doubt a bit. Seantrel Henderson also had a setback with his back injury and did not practice Thursday.

Here’s the team’s Thursday injury report.

Kyle, Cadet, Yarbrough don’t practice

Posted by Chris Brown on December 6, 2017 – 3:31 pm

We already knew that QB Tyrod Taylor would be missing Wednesday’s practice and that RB Travaris Cadet would not practice as he’s in the concussion protocol, but Kyle Williams was a new addition to the Bills injury report.

Williams did not practice due to a groin injury. Joining him was fellow defensive lineman Eddie Yarbrough, who has a chest injury that initially cropped up last week. He was still able to play in last Sunday’s game. Yarbrough is in line to start with Shaq Lawson moving to injured reserve on Tuesday.

Limited in practice were Kelvin Benjamin, Cordy Glenn and Tre’Davious White among others. Here’s a look at the full injury report.

Clay, DiMarco, Matthews lead questionable Bills

Posted by Chris Brown on December 1, 2017 – 2:41 pm

The Bills injury list got lengthier as the week wore on. Heading into Sunday’s game seven Bills are questionable for the first meeting with the Patriots.

Charles Clay, Pat DiMarco, Seantrel Henderson, Jordan Matthews, Conor McDermott, Nick O’Leary and Eddie Yarbrough are all questionable.

Clay, DiMarco, Matthews and Yarbrough all look like they’ll be able to play on Sunday as most of them were just limited throughout the course of the practice week. DiMarco got back on the practice field Friday on a limited basis.

O’Leary got on the practice field for the first time on Friday and was limited.

Seantrel Henderson missed Friday’s practice with an illness, but should be okay to play. That will be important knowing that Conor McDermott was added to the injury report Friday with a chest injury.

Benjamin, DiMarco, O’Leary miss Thurs. practice

Posted by Chris Brown on November 30, 2017 – 3:01 pm

Kelvin Benjamin and Nick O’Leary both missed their second straight day of practice on Thursday casting doubt on their availability for Sunday’s game. There was also a new addition to the injury report in FB Pat DiMarco.

With Mike Tolbert still not practicing as he recovers from his hamstring injury, not having DiMarco available could complicate things come Sunday. But head coach Sean McDermott called DiMarco’s ankle injury suffered in practice Wednesday as minor.

“A little tweak yesterday,” said McDermott. “It doesn’t appear to be anything serious. We’ll continue to monitor it.”

As for Benjamin, McDermott is not ruling him out for Sunday at this point.

“We’re still going to look at it,” McDermott said. “I’m not going to say he’s not going to make it. We’ll see. He’s done some work out here. We’ll keep in that day-to-day mode at this point.”

Here’s a look at the Bills Thursday injury report.

Benjamin, Clay, Matthews all questionable

Posted by Chris Brown on November 24, 2017 – 1:48 pm

Bills head coach Sean McDermott didn’t want to rule out Kelvin Benjamin this week despite the fact that he did not dress for a single practice. Here on Friday Benjamin is listed as questionable.

Benjamin didn’t suffer any ligament damage last Sunday when he injured his knee, but did not return to the game. He’ll presumably see how his knee feels in pre-game warm-ups before the team makes a call on the size receiver.

TE Charles Clay, WR Jordan Matthews and WR Deonte Thompson are also questionable, but all three were able to practice on a limited basis this week. With so many receiving targets battling injuries, McDermott still didn’t feel it impacted their game plan for Sunday.

“We’ve got some guys nicked up. We feel confident number one in their abilities, and then they’re working through some of those bumps and bruises,” McDermott said. “Those are all part of what happens this time of the year.”

Here’s a look at Buffalo’s full injury report for Sunday’s game.

Hauschka doesn’t practice; Hughes, Matthews limited

Posted by Chris Brown on November 16, 2017 – 3:51 pm

The Bills kicker was a new addition to the injury report Thursday, as Stephen Hauschka did not participate due to a right hip injury. The severity of the injury is not known, but presumably if it was serious the club would make a move to add a kicker to the roster. Also added to the Bills injury report Thursday was G John Miller, who was limited with an ankle injury.

The good news for the Bills is it looks like they’ll have both of their starting cornerbacks in the lineup on Sunday when they face the Chargers. E.J. Gaines was a limited participant in practice on Wednesday, but on Thursday he went through his first full practice in almost a month.

Jerry Hughes was also back practicing after missing Wednesday’s session. Head coach Sean McDermott was encouraged by Hughes’ progress.

“He did good. He moved well, better than I originally thought going into practice, so it’s a good sign,” McDermott said.

Jordan Matthews remained a limited participant in practice for a second straight day with a knee injury. Charles Clay returned to practice as a limited participant after sitting out Wednesday.

Here’s the full injury report for Thursday.

Zay Jones practices fully, Gaines limited

Posted by Chris Brown on November 15, 2017 – 3:12 pm

There are a couple of Bills players who missed last week’s game who are close to making a return. WR Zay Jones practiced fully on Wednesday while CB E.J. Gaines was limited. But the hope is both will be back in the lineup this week.

“I’m optimistic,” said Jones. “I’m just going to stay on the program I’m on right now. Practice today was a step in the right direction. I’m very encouraged about that. The training staff is doing a great job of just getting my legs back underneath me. I’m excited to just get back out there.”

Barring a setback, Jones is expected to be back in the lineup on Sunday in Los Angeles, which would be a good thing for QB Nate Peterman. Jones and Peterman established a good rapport during their week together on the same team at the Senior Bowl in Mobile, only to continue it through the offseason and training camp with the Bills.

Gaines meanwhile was limited. The cornerback practiced on a limited basis all of last week, but didn’t make it to the game. The hope this week is he’ll be able to increase his workload each day leading up to Sunday.

Jordan Matthews was also a limited participant with a knee injury.

DID NOT PRACTICE
LB Lorenzo Alexander – rest
TE Charles Clay – knee
OT Cordy Glenn – foot/ankle
DE Jerry Hughes – shin/calf

Clay looking good for Sunday

Posted by Chris Brown on November 9, 2017 – 3:31 pm

The Bills were without Zay Jones and Cordy Glenn at practice again on Thursday putting their status in question for Sunday’s game against the Saints. But it appears that Charles Clay will make his return to the lineup this week after missing the last three games with a knee injury.

“Yeah he practiced (Thursday) and did some good things,” said head coach Sean McDermott of Clay. “The biggest thing is going to be first week back, how he transitions from (Wednesday) to (Thursday), which I thought was good and then into (Friday). Then going into the game.”

McDermott admits that after a layoff as long as Clay’s that they have to be realistic with his workload.

“We have to keep that in perspective for sure,” he said. “So we’ll just see going forward.”

Limited for a second straight day at practice was CB E.J. Gaines, who is trying to return from a hamstring injury.

“E.J. was out there and did some things,” said McDermott. “We’ll see how he looks going into the weekend.”

As for Glenn and Jones, more will be known when Friday status designations are issued.

“Zay is still day to day. He’s made progress,” McDermott said. “Cordy, same thing, still day to day.”

Here’s the full injury report.

Zay Jones injury listed as ankle

Posted by Chris Brown on November 8, 2017 – 3:34 pm

Buffalo’s injury report on Wednesday played out just how head coach Sean McDermott said it would at his morning press conference.

OT Cordy Glenn and WR Zay Jones were the only non-participants. The only surprise was that Jones’ injury, which had initially been described as a knee injury is actually an ankle injury.

TE Charles Clay and CB E.J. Gaines were both limited as they try to return from knee and hamstring injuries respectively.

Clay, Gaines out; Humber, Poyer questionable

Posted by Chris Brown on November 1, 2017 – 11:41 am

The Bills final injury report is out for Thursday night’s game, and there aren’t any surprises.

TE Charles Clay and CB E.J. Gaines were both seen as unlikely to play against the Jets and have been officially declared out for the game.

LB Ramon Humber, now a month removed from thumb surgery is questionable along with S Jordan Poyer, who missed last week’s game due to a knee injury. Poyer told reporters Tuesday that he believes he’ll play Thursday night.

“I was able to finally get on the field and do everything that I wanted myself to be able to do in order to play on Thursday,” Poyer said. “Talking positive and I’m going to continue treatments in order to set myself up to play on Thursday. I’m excited about the opportunity that I’ll have to get out there and play on Thursday night.”

Richie Incognito will start on Thursday night at left guard. After practicing fully on Wednesday he was removed from the team’s injury report altogether.

Here’s the Bills full injury report.

Incognito, Gaines sit out practice again

Posted by Chris Brown on October 31, 2017 – 10:50 pm

On a short week a starter on offense and defense are still trying to heal up. Richie Incognito and E.J. Gaines were both kept off the practice field on Tuesday. Incognito played last Sunday with an ankle sprain and got through the game, but is likely sore. Gaines is trying to recover from a hamstring injury suffered against the Buccaneers in Week 7. Their official status will be known on Wednesday for Thursday night’s game.

The news is much more encouraging for S Jordan Poyer. He said he’s optimistic about returning to the lineup after missing last week’s game with a knee injury.

“I’m encouraged and I feel like I’ll be ready to go on Thursday night,” said Poyer. “Every day has been a lot better. It’s just a matter of when is going to be the day when I’m able to cut and do everything I want to do. I’m able to do that so that’s been a real positive.”

LB Ramon Humber is also closer to returning to the lineup after he participated in practice on Tuesday on a limited basis. Here’s the full injury report.
