No news on June’s visit with Texans

Posted by Chris Brown on April 1, 2009 – 12:12 am

On the heels of Cato June’s visit with the Houston Texans Monday, there’s been no news of a contract offer or hard core negotiations.

I think a lot of teams, including the Bills are doing their homework on June, so in the event they don’t land the linebacker talent they might be targeting in the draft they can present June with a contract offer as a fall back option.

The Bills could potentially take a linebacker in the first two rounds and the Texans are a virtual lock to take a linebacker at pick 15, especially if Cushing and Matthews are sitting there.

So I think both teams are considering June their plan ‘B’ for addressing the position.

LB June would be a solid addition

Posted by Chris Brown on March 4, 2009 – 4:36 pm

A six-year starter, familiar with this defensive scheme, a 2005 Pro Bowl player, capable of making plays in the run and pass game, I wouldn’t mind plugging Cato June into Buffalo’s linebacking corps at all. We’ll see what the Bills can do to convince him to sign here as he’s visiting One Bills Drive today.

At 29, I still think he’s got plenty of good football left in him. Whether he can play on the strong side is the question. If he does sign I’d be interested to see if they’d move Kawika over to the strong side, since he’s a bit stouter than June and put June on the weak side. Either way it’d be great to have a pair of proven vets flanking Poz. We’ll see what happens.

Bucs clip 5 vets including LB Brooks, LB June

Posted by Chris Brown on February 25, 2009 – 6:38 pm

The Tampa Bay Bucs are apparently moving forward with their youth movement as 11-time Pro Bowl LB Derrick Brooks led the list of releases by the club today.

Also released were RB Warrick Dunn, WRs Joey Galloway and Ike Hilliard and LB Cato June.

The player potentially most attractive to Buffalo could be Cato June, who is 29 and has been a full time starter the past five years, and is very familiar with the defensive system. However, Buffalo did not seem overly interested in him (nor did many other teams) two years ago when he signed with Tampa.
