Miller’s the choice

Posted by Chris Brown on April 14, 2011 – 10:49 pm

Texas A&M Linebacker Von Miller is expected by many to be a top 5 draft selection and if Bills fans had their way he would be the top choice for Buffalo. After watching the ouside linebacker preview in our Countdown to Draft Day series, fans made it clear Miller was their pick at the position with 73% percent of the vote. Miller has been a popular choice in a lot of mock drafts for the Bills.

UCLA’s Akeem Ayers came in second with 13% of the vote and Georgia’s Justin Houston came in third with 6%. Ayers and Houston might be options in the top of the second round.

Our final postional preview will be up on Friday in the media center and it takes a closer look at the running backs in the 2011 Draft.

OL Ijalana wins big

Posted by Chris Brown on April 13, 2011 – 5:51 am

Villanova OL Ben Ijalana hasn’t had the best of luck in this pre-draft process as a sports hernia has kept him from performing for scouts and NFL personnel execs, but Bills fans made it clear they wouldn’t mind seeing him in Buffalo duds in 2011.

After watching the Countdown to Draft Day position preview for guards and centers, Bills fans texted who they felt was the best fit for Buffalo and Ijalana won in a landslide getting an astounding 75% of the vote.

Ijalana, who played tackle for the Wildcats, is seen by some NFL clubs as a guard in the NFL, but despite being a shade under 6’4″ he has 36-inch arms, among the longest in the draft class. That combined with his feet, which several teams feel are good enough to play tackle in the NFL might convince teams to at least try him at tackle at the pro level.

Our Countdown to Draft Day position previews continue today (Wed.) with the outside linebackers. So be sure to watch and then text in who you feel is the best fit for Buffalo by following the instructions at the end of the video.

Green and Jones in dead heat

Posted by Chris Brown on April 8, 2011 – 6:14 am

Wide receiver prospects A.J. Green and Julio Jones are largely viewed as the top two pass catching talents in the 2011 NFL draft pool. As far as Bills fans are concerned either one would be a great fit judging by their voting.

After reviewing the Countdown to Draft Day, draft preview on wide receivers, Bills fans texted their vote to 64621 for who they thought was the best fit for the Bills at wideout. In a dead heat vote, Green and Jones both garnered 33% of the vote.

What was perhaps even more interesting was Kentucky’s Randall Cobb was next in the voting with just over 22% of the vote. The multi-faceted Cobb, who can run, catch and pass would be an interesting weapon for any NFL club. He’s forecast as a second-round pick.

Up next in our Draft Countdown position previews is the chock full of talent defensive end position up now. So take a look and then text your vote for which defensive end you see as the best fit for the Bills by following the texting instructions at the end of the video.

Dareus the fan pick at DT

Posted by Chris Brown on April 5, 2011 – 5:40 pm

The fans have once again spoken when it comes to the Countdown to Draft Day position previews on Buffalobills.com. At the defensive tackle position fans texted their votes overwhelmingly in favor of one elite prospect.

Just a couple of months ago it was considered a tight race for the best defensive tackle in the draft, but Marcell Dareus won Buffalo’s fan vote by a landslide, taking two-thirds of the votes cast to 64621 for the defensive tackle Bills fans believe is the best fit for Buffalo.

Dareus took hom 66.6% of the vote, which was even a great majority than Cam Newton had during the QB position preview (50%).

Nick Fairley came in second at the DT spot with 14% of the vote. Both Dareus and Fairley have visited One Bills Drive during the pre-draft process.

Our position previews will continue to air every Monday, Wednesday and Friday until the top 5 have been counted down at all positions. Voting is now open for wide receivers.

Bills fans prefer Shep

Posted by Chris Brown on March 28, 2011 – 8:15 am

Based on fan voting by text to 64621, Bills fans overwhelmingly feel that LSU ILB Kelvin Sheppard would be the best fit for the Bills.

In the media center at Buffalobills.com as part of our Countdown to Draft Day series, we profiled the top five inside linebackers in this year’s class and LSU’s Kelvin Sheppard took home half of the vote over the other four prospects.

Buffalo’s personnel department and coaching staff have had a lot of exposure to Sheppard, having coached him at the Senior Bowl on the South Team and having hosted him for a pre-draft visit earlier this month.

Coming in 2nd in the voting was N.C. State ILB Nate Irving, another Senior Bowl participant with 25% of the vote.

The next position group to be profiled on Buffalobills.com are the tight ends. So be sure to watch and vote by texting Player1, Player2 etc. to 64621 for which one of the five prospects you feel is the best fit for the Bills. Standard text messaging rates apply. Voting results will appear here on the Inside the Bills Blog Tuesday evening.
