Chandler, Stevie probable

Posted by Chris Brown on December 23, 2011 – 1:50 pm

Buffalo’s offense look like they’ll have their starting tight end back in the lineup Saturday.

Scott Chandler was limited in practice again on Friday, but is listed as probable. Chandler has missed the last two games with an ankle injury.

Stevie Johnson was also listed as probable and assured he would play this week as he has dealt all season with a nagging groin injury.

RB Johnny White (concussion) and WR Ruvell Martin (hamstring) are both out.

Chandler, Stevie limited

Posted by Chris Brown on December 21, 2011 – 3:55 pm

Two of Ryan Fitzpatrick’s main passing targets both practiced Wednesday, but they weren’t full go.

“Scott Chandler and Stevie Johnson were all limited in practice,” said Chan Gailey.

When asked further about Chandler and Johnson’s chances for Saturday’s game, Gailey is hopeful for one and optimistic for the other.

“Scott’s got a decent chance,” said Gailey. “I’m not ready to give my full endorsement, but he’s got a chance. Stevie looked fine. He’s not there yet, but he’ll get there by Saturday.”

Injury update

Posted by Chris Brown on August 5, 2011 – 5:16 pm

Here’s the injury update from Friday’s practice.

Justin Rogers, who left practice early sustained an ankle injury. Head coach Chan Gailey provided details.

“He had a little bit of an ankle,” said Gailey. “They took him in to make sure it was alright and wasn’t anything bad. They think it’s just fine.”

Gailey also confirmed that it was in fact a rest day for Shawne Merriman, who did not participate in practice Friday.

Top pick Marcell Dareus rotated in and out of the lineup a lot after turning an ankle in Thursday night’s practice. He got through the practice session Friday even though his ankle was probably not 100 percent.

“He practiced,” Gailey said. “You’re not healthy a lot of the time in this game.”

Injury update

Posted by Chris Brown on December 17, 2010 – 1:00 pm

Bills head coach Chan Gailey said with the exception of one player everyone is good to go for Sunday’s game in Miami.

Starting C Geoff Hangartner is the only player that will not play on Sunday, meaning Eric Wood will again start at center. Drayton Florence and Andy Levitre after not practicing on Wednesday were full go the rest of the practice week. Both are expected to start.

Benson questionable

Posted by Chris Brown on November 20, 2010 – 2:47 pm

Bengals RB Cedric Benson participated fully in practice Friday, but he’s still listed as questionable with a foot injury and he’s not alone on the Bengals injury report.

Starting DE Frostee Rucker (knee) and starting DT Tank Johnson (knee) are both doubtful for Sunday’s game.

Starting LB Rey Maualuga (thigh) is questionable as he failed to practice fully at all during the week.

Bills injury update

Posted by Chris Brown on November 18, 2010 – 3:28 pm

Though Kyle Williams (hamstring) is the headliner of the nicked up Bills this week, there’s another key player that was unable to practice fully on Thursday in FB Corey McIntyre.

“Corey was limited in what he could do out there,” said head coach Chan Gailey after practice Thursday. “He wasn’t full speed. Hopefully he can be back by Sunday.”

If McIntyre’s ankle injury, which he sustained in the Detroit game last Sunday keeps him out of this weekend’s game, Buffalo may have to make a move with respect to their roster. McIntyre is the only true fullback on the 53-man roster. They have Jehuu Caulcrick on the practice squad, but he’s only been with the team for a little more than a week.

McIntyre is also a valuable special teams contributor as he’s second on the team in special teams tackles.

On the plus side, Cordaro Howard (shoulder) practiced for the first time in over a week as he tries to come back from a shoulder injury suffered in Week 9. He was limited on Thursday.

Injury update

Posted by Chris Brown on November 4, 2010 – 3:25 pm

With LB Andra Davis (shoulder) unable to practice for a second straight day, head coach Chan Gailey is still holding out hope that his starting inside linebacker can get out on the field before the week is out.

“Andra Davis wasn’t able to get back out there today,” said Gailey following practice Thursday. “We’re hoping he can get back out there tomorrow (Friday), but we don’t know for sure.”

As for Terrence McGee, he’s not all the way back with Leodis McKelvin still taking first team reps in the team portions of practice.

“He’s doing okay, he’s not 100 percent,” said Gailey. “We’ll just have to see how it goes.”

McGee has missed the last three games after undergoing a procedure on his back to fix a nerve problem in his leg.

WR Donald Jones was limited on Wednesday, but did a lot more on Thursday practicing fully. He’s an important cog on special teams as one of the gunners on punt team knowing the Bills are facing the league’s leading punt returner Devin Hester.

Looks like two players on Buffalo’s injury report will be able to start this week.

Moorman questionable

Posted by Chris Brown on September 17, 2010 – 2:00 pm

Bills punter Brian Moorman was added to the injury report on Friday.

He’s listed as questionable after being unable to practice on Friday. Head coach Chan Gailey downplayed Moorman’s ailment which is listed as a back.

“Brian had a little issue this morning and missed practice,” said Gailey. “But it shouldn’t be anything.”

It was clear that Gailey did not anticipate it being anything that would keep Moorman from playing on Sunday. If he were unable to go however, it’s presumed that Rian Lindell would assume punting duties.

The news is better for starting C Geoff Hangartner (ankle) and starting LB Reggie Torbor (chest). Both are listed as probable for Sunday. Torbor practiced fully all week.

FS Cary Harris was declared out for Sunday with a hamstring injury as was Paul Posluszny (knee).  Rookie LB Antonio Coleman is probable after practicing all week.

Injury update

Posted by Chris Brown on September 12, 2010 – 4:52 pm

Bills head coach provided a post game update on a pair of player injuries suffered in the game Sunday.

Paul Posluszny left the game with a knee injury early in the second half. But Poz was seen running on the sideline trying to test the knee and looked like he was moving pretty well, but Gailey would not label the injury minor or major so soon after the game.

“We’re getting further tests,” said Gailey. “We’ll know more (Monday) or the next day. We’ll know exactly where we stand with him. It could be short term, it could be long term to be honest with you.”

Gailey also confirmed that S Cary Harris pulled a hamstring on special teams.

“I don’t know how long that will be as well,” Gailey said. “But that was the only really major thing.”

Here is the official rundown of participation at practice Thursday among Buffalo’s injured players.

Did not practice
CB Terrence McGee (knee)
LB Keith Ellison (quad)

Limited in practice
FS Jairus Byrd (groin)

Both Schobel and Williams worked with trainers on the side. Head coach Dick Jauron however, was not overly encouraged by that development.
