Posted by on March 23, 2016 – 9:42 am

This week, Meals on Wheels for Western New York is holding its annual “Champions for Meals” initiative. The event started on Monday, March 21 and will run until Friday, March 25. Champions for Meals gives government officials and celebrities from the area the opportunity to give back to the community. Those participating in the event will be delivering meals each day throughout the week from 10:30 a.m. until 12:45 p.m.

The Buffalo Bills will have alumni taking part in the program including President of the Buffalo Bills Alumni Foundation Ed Rutkowski, Lou Piccone and Jeff Nixon. Alumni from the Buffalo Sabres will also be participating.

Rutkowski, who partook in Champions for Meals on Monday, was grateful for the experience.

“In addition to it [Champions for Meals] being very rewarding, it was a lot of fun,” said Rutkowski. “It is a great program.”

Byrd matches other Byrd

Posted by Chris Brown on October 26, 2009 – 2:28 am

Bills rookie FS Jairus Byrd matched a Bills Wall of Famer and 50th All-Time Team member of the same last name with an interception feat thanks to his two picks Sunday.

Byrd is the third Bills rookie to post an interception in three consecutive games.  He’s the first to achieve the feat since Butch Byrd in 1964 (games 9-12).

Byrd also posted his fourth and fifth interceptions of the season.  He’s the first Bills rookie to post five interceptions in a season since Jeff Nixon (6) in 1979.
