NT Pou’ha is questionable

Posted by Chris Brown on September 7, 2012 – 1:37 pm

The Jets were initially thought to be without their chief run stuffer for Sunday’s game against the Bills.

Head coach Rex Ryan declared him unavailable for Sunday according to multiple reports (see below). But when Pou’ha was listed as questionable Friday, Ryan reneged on his comment the day before saying he was mistaken.

MMehtaNYDN Sione Po’uha (back) and S Eric Smith (knee/hip) will not play vs Bills. #nyj

Smith was already declared out for Sunday’s game on Thursday. Pou’ha likely would not see much of the field anyway on Sunday knowing how much the Bills use their 3 and 4 wide sets.

Jets injury report

Posted by Chris Brown on December 29, 2010 – 4:56 pm

Here’s the rundown of the Jets’ injuries for Sunday’s game with the Bills.

Did not practice
DE Shaun Ellis (low back)
S James Ihedigbo (knee/ankle)
OL Damien Woody (knee)

Limited in practice
CB Antonio Cromartie (groin)
DL Sione Pouha (back)
DL Trevor Pryce (hip)

S Eric Smith (concussion)

Rex Ryan has already said that S James Ihedigbo will not play on Sunday.

“We’ll see where we are,” Ryan said. ”If a guy’s injured then we wont play him. James Ihedigbo won’t play this week. You want to do the smart thing. I told our guys to make sure they’re ready to be focused on they’re gonna play. But clearly, there will be some guys that are nicked and things that won’t play.”

Jets OLB questionable

Posted by Chris Brown on October 1, 2010 – 1:32 pm

Jets’ OLB Calvin Pace is questionable for Sunday’s game against the Bills.

Pace has yet to play in the regular season due to a foot injury suffered in the preseason. However, he was able to practice in a limited capacity on Friday after missing practice Wednesday and Thursday and could be available on Sunday for passing downs.

Starting C Nick Mangold (shoulder) is also questionable as he was only able to practice on a limited basis all week.

OLB Jason Taylor (elbow) is probable though he wasn’t able to practice fully all week either.

RT Damien Woody (personal) practiced fully on Friday and is expected to start, which is good news, because the Jets’ swing tackle Wayne Hunter is out for Sunday’s game with a shin injury.

If either Woody or D’Brickashaw Ferguson are injured in Sunday’s game, rookie second-round pick Vladimir Ducasse would have to step in. And that’s something to keep an eye on because Ducasse was not good enough to earn a starting job at left guard for the Jets, where Matt Slauson is currently the starter.

Rex Ryan even said on the conference call this week with the Buffalo media, that Ducasse is not yet ready to start at guard. Now Ducasse does have more experience at tackle having played there in college, so perhaps that’s why he’s not ready to play guard in the NFL because it’s a switch.

Still it’s something to keep an eye on if Ferguson or Woody are hurt in the game.

Jets injury update

Posted by Chris Brown on September 30, 2010 – 3:20 pm

Jets CB Darrelle Revis has already declared himself out for Sunday and it’s not looking good for a few other players.

OLB Calvin Pace was hoping to return to the Jets lineup for the first time since suffering a foot injury in the preseason, but he again could not practice on Thursday. RT Damien Woody (personal) missed a second straight day of practice.

Making the Jets right tackle situation even more troubling is swing tackle Wayne Hunter (shin) has yet to practice this week as well.

Starting C Nick Mangold (shoulder) and OLB Jason Taylor (elbow) were both limited in practice for a second straight day Thursday.
