Jets TE, DL both questionable

Posted by Chris Brown on September 7, 2012 – 5:45 pm

The Jets have three starters that are questionable for Sunday’s game against the Bills.

TE Dustin Keller (hamstring) insists he’ll play on Sunday, but was limited in practice again on Friday. He has not practiced fully all week.

DL Mike DeVito (calf) also has only been able to practice on a limited basis all week. He too is listed as questionable. If he can’t go, rookie and Jets top draft pick Quinton Coples would see a lot more work.

Rex Ryan already confirmed that starting NT Sione Pou’ha (low back) and S Eric Smith (hip/knee) are out for Sunday.  If DeVito can’t go two-thirds of the Jets starting defensive line would be sidelined for the game.

S LaRon Landry, who did not practice Thursday, returned to practice Friday and is listed as probable.

Jets injury updates

Posted by Chris Brown on September 6, 2012 – 1:38 pm

Jets beat reporter Manish Mehta had a few updates on the injured Jets prior to practice including NT Sione Pouha, TE Dustin Keller, S Eric Smith as well as an update on their second-round pick WR Stephen Hill and his role this week against the Bills.

@MMehtaNYDN Rex thinks Pouha will be limited layer in practice today. He doesn’t think Keller is ready yet. “I’m still hopeful he’ll play” #nyj

@MMehtaNYDN Rex Ryan rules Eric Smith out for Sunday vs Bills with knee/hip injuries #nyj

@MMehtaNYDN Rookie Stephen Hill will start at WR opposite Santonio Holmes on Sunday vs Bills, Rex says #nyj

So S Eric Smith is out with a hip/knee injury for Sunday, Keller is still not ready to practice and sounds very questionable for Sunday and rookie Stephen Hill will start Sunday.

The Jets just have a pair of offensive players questionable for Sunday.

Every other player on the Jets injury report is probable including OT D’Brickashaw Ferguson who was added Friday with an ankle injury.

Jets practice update

Posted by Chris Brown on November 22, 2011 – 12:51 pm

With the Jets having their Week 11 game last Thursday night, they’re getting a couple of extra days of practice in as they prepare for the Bills. Their top two running backs however, did not practice Monday. Greene is reportedly back, but not L.T..

ESPN New York’s Rich Cimini filed this report from the practice field Tuesday.

RichCimini #Jets practice: Greene (ribs), Pool (knee), Slauson (knee) back in practice. Tomlinson (knee), Kerley (knee), Burress (personal) still out.

Tomlinson has a sprained MCL. Pool was injured in the first game against the Bills. Burress was apparently given two days off to handle charitable work. Do not know if it’s part of his prior jail sentence.

Jets Friday injury update

Posted by Chris Brown on November 4, 2011 – 2:11 pm

In addition to Plaxico Burress being questionable, the Jets defensive line could be a bit short-handed Sunday.

Starting DL Mike DeVito (knee) is questionable as he was only able to practice on a limited basis Thursday and Friday. He’s listed as questionable along with rotational NT Kenrick Ellis (ankle).

Notables that are listed as probable for Sunday’s game are starting LBs David Harris (ankle) and Calvin Pace (groin) and C Nick Mangold (ankle).

2 Jets DL back practicing

Posted by Chris Brown on November 3, 2011 – 11:26 am

A pair of Jets defensive linemen that were not able to practice on Wednesday are back practicing on Thursday.

That according to ESPN New York’s Rich Cimini, who is covering Jets practice.

RichCimini DeVito (knee), Ellis (ankle) and Trufant (hamstring) all out on the practice field, participating in positional drills. #Jets

The report refers to DL Mike DeVito, who has missed the Jets last game and DT Kenrick Ellis. DeVito is an underrated starter, while Ellis, a rookie, is the backup nose tackle to Sione Pouha.
