Browns CB Haden a shut down guy

Posted by Chris Brown on October 1, 2013 – 8:15 am

The Cleveland defense is a unit that is probably better than that of Baltimore right now. There are a lot of top draft choices on that side of the ball for the Browns, including top CB Joe Haden, who effectively shut down Cincinnati’s A.J. Green Sunday in a 17-6 win over the Bengals.

Haden was assigned to cover Green the entire game. The Bengals top receiver was targeted 15 times in the game. By game’s end he had seven catches for 51 yards, with his longest reception going for just 16.

It will be interesting to see if Haden is matched up on Stevie Johnson in the slot, knowing Haden is primarily a boundary cornerback.

Browns tip hat to Bills

Posted by Chris Brown on December 13, 2010 – 12:31 am

The Bills made some big plays late to preserve a 13-6 win over the Browns Sunday, and Cleveland’s players gave them all the credit.

“It looked like everything was going our way in the beginning, and it just changed up a little bit,” said CB Joe Haden. “They started making plays and you’ve got to give them all the credit.  They did what they had to do.”

“It’s a disappointment,” said WR Chansi Stuckey. “We came down here, they were obviously more ready to play than we were.”

Browns head coach Eric Mangini was asked about third down problems on offense and he too credited the Bills play as Cleveland converted just 2-10 on third downs.

“Not being as effective as we need to be on third down, that stalled some drives,” Mangini said. “I give [Buffalo] a whole lot of credit. I think they played really well.”

Sunday’s win was the first over the Browns in their last four meetings. The two teams have faced each other each of the last four seasons.
