Rams sign WR Britt

Posted by Chris Brown on April 1, 2014 – 7:23 am

He visited a handful of teams after he fell out of favor with the Tennessee Titans and it was clear he was not going to return to the team that made him a first-round pick. The Bills were one of the teams Britt visited, but in the end Britt went with who he knew signing with St. Louis.

Britt signed a one-year deal with the Rams and the move makes sense. St. Louis not only needs a big wideout outside to stretch the field, there’s also some familiarity there for Britt in the form of Jeff Fisher, who was head coach of the Titans when the club made Britt a first-round pick in 2009.

Now head coach of Rams, Fisher knows how to handle quirky personalities like Britt, who has had his share of run-ins with the law.

Report: Rams like odds of landing WR Britt

Posted by Chris Brown on March 26, 2014 – 11:13 am

Free agent WR Kenny Britt has made a handful of visits to NFL clubs, including the Bills late last week. Britt said he would make his decision by midweek this week. According to one report he might be leaning in favor of one particular club.

That club according to Pro Football Talk is the St. Louis Rams. In an interview with PFT, Rams GM Les Snead outlined how likely he feels they’ll be able to land Britt as a receiver for their club.

Per the report Snead said he feels the Rams have a better than 50 percent chance of getting Britt under contract. Britt had said he was looking for a short term deal, presumably a one-year agreement to try to rebuild his value as a player. St. Louis does need a big wideout and the Rams have the benefit of the prior relationship of their head coach Jeff Fisher with Britt from their days together in Tennessee.

Britt looking for a fit

Posted by johnmurphyshow on March 21, 2014 – 6:37 pm

Free agent wide receiver Kenny Britt wrapped up his visit to One Bills Drive Friday afternoon and went on his way. He told reporters at the stadium that after visiting the Bills, Redskins, Patriots and Rams over the last few days, he expects to make one more visit, to the Carolina Panthers.

And Britt insists it’s not money that he’s after in his next NFL contract, it’s a good situation.

“To tell you the truth it’s the environment, the people,” Britt said. “I’m trying to get a great feeling about everything. Right now, it’s not about a contract, right now it’s just about going somewhere where I can establish myself and get back to the fun of football, and hopefully the coaching staff can help me.”

Britt said he met with Bills GM Doug Whaley and Coach Doug Marrone in Orchard Park Friday. He says the meetings went well, and he got a chance to tell the Bills brain trust what he can bring to a team.

“I’m a big physical receiver,” he said. “I play the game with a passion. I’ve been here (in the NFL) five years, so the mental part of it is easier than it was in my rookie year. I bring a lot to a team, emotionally, because I have a real passion about the game and I love it. Hopefully I land somewhere good and emotional just like I am.”

Britt said he expects to have a decision on his next team in the next 2-3 days.

Report: Bills express interest in WR Britt

Posted by Chris Brown on March 21, 2014 – 8:11 am

Tennessee WR Kenny Britt is a free agent who has already made a few visits with some NFL clubs. His agent is claiming there are two other teams interested in his client with one being the Bills.

Britt’s agent, Pat Dye, in an interview on SiriusXM NFL Radio told FOXSports Alex Marvez that Buffalo was one of two new teams interested in the former first-round pick.

Britt has already visited with the Rams, Patriots and Redskins. It’s believed at this point in free agency that Britt would be amenable to a short term deal. His agent says the opportunity for playing time is their highest priority at this point.

Titans down a starting WR for Sunday

Posted by Chris Brown on November 12, 2009 – 4:14 pm

The Tennessee Titans will be without one of their top two wide receivers on Sunday.

Titans head coach Jeff Fisher revealed Thursday that WR Justin Gage has two fractures in the transverse process bones of his back after a hard fall following a leaping 33-yard catch last week against the 49ers. That according to the Tennessean.

Gage will not require surgery, but is not expected to play this week. Set to start in Gage’s place will be rookie Kenny Britt, Tennessee’s first-round pick this past April.
