Brady added as questionable for Sunday

Posted by Chris Brown on October 10, 2014 – 5:09 pm

The Patriots are a bit beat up on the defensive side of the ball, much like the Bills in advance of this Sunday’s game at Ralph Wilson Stadium, but the addition of New England QB Tom Brady as questionable is a bit of a surprise.

Brady was added to New England’s injury report Friday after being limited in practice due to an ankle injury. Over the years Brady has often been listed as probable with a shoulder injury, but questionable is a rather new designation for the signal caller. The only other quarterback on the Patriots roster is rookie Jimmy Garoppolo. It’s hard to believe that Brady would miss a game knowing his highly competitive nature.

Brady’s starting C Bryan Stork, another rookie, suffered a concussion in practice Thursday and did not practice Friday. He too is questionable for the game, which could prompt yet another offensive line shuffle in advance of a game.

Veteran guard Dan Connolly would presumably step in for Stork if he cannot play Sunday.

The New England Patriots’ injury report doesn’t look all that bad this week, but there are some defensive starters on their list this week.

Chief among them are LB Jamie Collins, DE Chandler Jones and LB Dont’a Hightower. All three were limited in practice Wednesday. The Patriots do not possess a ton of depth on the defensive side of the ball, so the availability of these three players will be critical for Sunday’s game.

Gronk doubtful, Amendola probable

Posted by Chris Brown on September 6, 2013 – 5:48 pm

As expected it’s not looking good for Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski to be suited up to play against his hometown team on Sunday. Receiver Danny Amendola however, looks ready to go.

Gronkowski, who just returned to practice coming off of offseason back surgery was limited all week and is listed as doubtful for Sunday’s game against the Bills.

Meanwhile, Amendola, widely viewed as the replacement for the departed Wes Welker, is probably coming off a groin injury. He participated fully in practice Friday.

RB Brandon Bolden (knee), WR Aaron Dobson (hamstring), DB Nate Ebner (ankle) and DB Duron Harmon (hamstring) are all questionable for Sunday’s game.

Chung, Haynesworth out for Pats

Posted by Chris Brown on September 25, 2011 – 6:57 am

On Saturday the Patriots downgraded a couple of key defensive players in their lineup.

Starting safety Patrick Chung (thumb surgery) and DT Albert Haynesworth (back) were both downgraded to out for Sunday’s game with the Bills. WR Taylor Price (hamstring) was downgraded to out as well.

DE Mike Wright (concussion) is also out, leaving New England a bit thinner on the defensive line this week. A few other players for the Patriots appear to be game time decisions as well like CB Ras-I Dowling and LB Gary Guyton. We’ll have the inactives for the game later this morning.

Posted by Chris Brown on September 23, 2011 – 5:10 pm

Patriots starting safety Patrick Chung had thumb surgery a few days ago and didn’t practice until Friday this week.

Hernandez, Vollmer out for Pats

Posted by Chris Brown on September 23, 2011 – 5:03 pm

The Patriots will not only be down a tight end in Aaron Hernandez, but they will also be down a starting right tackle in Sebastian Vollmer.

Hernandez was expected to miss Sunday’s game due to an MCL injury sustained last week. Vollmer has a back injury, which puts rookie first-round pick Nate Solder in the starting lineup.

Solder is a player the Bills staff is pretty familiar with having seen him all week at the Senior Bowl on the North Team, which was coached by Marvin Lewis.

He’ll be facing Chris Kelsay and fellow rookie Marcell Dareus in the trenches on Sunday.
