Posted by Chris Brown on August 3, 2009 – 4:57 pm

WR P.K. Sam, who was waived by the Bills last week, has found a new team north of the border in the CFL.

Sam will sign with the Toronto Argonauts according to TSN and could play as soon as Aug. 14 for the Canadian club. Sam played for the Argos last season appearing in six games posting 36 catches for 499 yards and three touchdowns.

On what happened with Sam

Posted by Chris Brown on July 31, 2009 – 6:38 pm

P.K. Sam was waived and not kept on injured reserve because his quad injury was a minor one.

In all likelihood the team reached an injury settlement with Sam, which allows him to try to catch on with another NFL club when he’s healthy.

P.K. Sam to I-R

Posted by Chris Brown on July 31, 2009 – 5:17 pm

Wide receiver P.K. Sam who was placed on the waived/injured list Wednesday, cleared waivers. So he reverts back to the Bills roster and the club could place him on injured reserve.

Since he only had a strained quad, it is possible that he could try to reach an injury settlement with the Bills and subsequently waive if he wants to try and catch on with another NFL roster once he’s healthy.

The Bills active roster total is at 80.

Johnson injury update

Posted by Chris Brown on July 29, 2009 – 3:58 am

Steve Johnson was moving slowly off the field Tuesday after watching the night practice. Slowly because any sudden movements aggravate his torn rib cartilage.

“I’m just frustrated that I can’t be out there, seeing how everybody’s working hard and it’s hot out here, we have receivers going down and I can’t be out there to help them out,” said Johnson. “But time’s going to heal me and that’s all I’m waiting for is my time.”

Buffalo could be down to just six healthy receivers Wednesday, if P.K. Sam can’t take the field Wednesday. Johnson isn’t sure when he’ll be able to return either.

“There’s no given time,” he said. “It’s day-to-day. I can’t make any sudden moves or anything. It’s a little hard breathing but I just keep giving it the ice and the (stimulation). That’s all I can do right now – ice and stim and rest. That’s it.”

McCargo update, P.K. Sam leaves practice

Posted by Chris Brown on July 29, 2009 – 1:37 am

John McCargo’s injury status was updated by Dick Jauron after practice.

The Bills head coach said he twinged his hamstring just a little bit, similar to the way Marcus Stroud did and Stroud was back practicing after missing just two days.

Meanwhile P.K. Sam left practice with a strained quad. No word on how much time he could miss.

WR Sam and C Philip are interesting adds

Posted by Chris Brown on January 27, 2009 – 5:16 pm

With P.K. Sam and Marvin Philip joining the roster as future free agents, it doesn’t seem like a coincidence that they play two positions that the Bills will need to take a closer look at this offseason.

Sam is another big receiving target (6’3″ 210) that played six games for the Argos last year in the CFL recording 36 receptions for 499 yards and 3 touchdowns. He’s mainly bounced around the league the past four years going from New England to Cincy to Miami to NFL Europe to Oakland. He’s been unable to stick on an NFL roster. We’ll see what he can bring to the Bills receiving corps this spring in OTAs.

As for Philip (6’0″ 307) he’s got a stocky build and was considered a pretty heady center coming out. He too hasn’t been able to stay on a roster. But with Jason Whittle, Duke Preston and Melvin Fowler all free agents, Buffalo isn’t a bad place for him to land.
