Top 10 Series continues

Posted by Chris Brown on July 7, 2011 – 9:29 am

Part 6 of our Top 10 Performances of 2010 series continues today with ILB Andra Davis, who had a solid game against Jacksonville last season despite a major injury.

Davis had 11 tackles and an interception despite playing with a torn labrum in his shoulder. This was his last game that he was able to play with it as he played a full four games after sustaining that injury in Week 1 against Miami. He was placed on injured reserve after that missing the final 11 games of the season.

Kyle makes Peter King top 100

Posted by Chris Brown on June 20, 2011 – 11:14 am

Bills Pro Bowl DT Kyle Williams did not make the top 100 list as voted by NFL players, but SI columnist Peter King had him in his top 30.

King listed him in his weekly Monday Morning QB column today at #27 with the following explanation.

Surprised at me having Kyle Williams 27 while the players, apparently, don’t have him in the top 100? Watch some video of him. He consistently occupies two blockers. Always moving forward. A machine. I remember talking to Chan Gailey about him last year. This is a man who coached Emmitt Smith, Troy Aikman, Michael Irvin — and I do believe I have never heard him rave about any player the way he raved to me about Williams.

Nice to see Williams getting some deserving recognition, but Gailey’s comments to King are even more interesting. As a reminder in our Top 10 Performances of 2010, we profile Kyle’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers with Bills defensive line coach Giff Smith. It’s not to be missed and is set to air on Buffalobills.com in July. I’ll keep you posted.

Wood ready to roll

Posted by Chris Brown on June 15, 2011 – 8:37 am

Bills offensive lineman Eric Wood is eager to get 2011 underway knowing he’s coming into the year fully healthy.

Appearing at a charity event in Louisville he was asked about his 2010 season along with the future for the Bills as well as his current health. He’s been working out at Louisville with fellow alum Jason Spitz, who is an interior lineman for the Packers.

Wood, whose surgically repaired leg really came around in the second half of the season last year, is the next subject in our Top 10 Performances of 2010 on Buffalobills.com. Set to air Thursday is Wood’s dominant performance against NFL Rookie of the Year Ndamukong Suh in Buffalo’s Week 10 win over Detroit when they rushed for over 150 yards.

Bills offensive line coach Joe D’Alessandris breaks down each of the dominant plays in which Wood handles Suh among others. It’s not to be missed and will be available in the Buffalobills.com media center Thursday.
