The way San Diego head coach Norv Turner put it the Monday after his team’s Sunday night win over New England it sounded like a lot of his nicked up players would be available for this Sunday’s tilt with the Bills.
The Chargers injury report would seem to state otherwise. Though it’s possible that a lot of the injured players were given Wednesday’s practice off in light of their late game this past weekend, three of their players that did not play in last week’s game that are expected back this week did not practice Wednesday.
WR Chris Chambers (ankle), WR Buster Davis (groin) and LB Jyles Tucker (hamstring) were all held out of Wednesday’s practice for San Diego. Chambers and Tucker were two players that Turner said on Monday “should play” this weekend. Thursday’s practice report will tell us a lot more.
LaDainian Tomlinson (toe) also did not practice, but skipping Wednesday has been commonplace for him. Fellow RB and dangerous return man Darren Sproles (ankle) also did not practice. He would be a big loss for the Chargers on special teams this Sunday if he can’t go. He’s the reason the Chargers are 7th in punt return average and tops in kick return average.
FB Mike Tolbert (ankle) and S Eric Weddle (shoulder) were both limited Wednesday.
LB Marques Harris (hamstring) was full go on Wednesday.
