Bills QB Trent Edwards was asked about his thoughts on the reports that head coach Dick Jauron had signed a contract extension Monday. Here were his comments.
“It’s huge,” said Trent Edwards. “I’m very, very excited about coach Jauron getting extended. That just shows the effort that he’s put into this organization and that just shows the backing that the organization has for him. I’m very, very excited that he’s here for the next… a three-year extension is what I heard.”
“That puts a lot of the players in this locker room at ease knowing that our head coach is going to be here and he’s not going anywhere else. He’s ours and we’re going to play for him the rest of this season the next three following that. So it’s nice to have that set aside and it’s very, very well deserved I would say too.”
“Amongst the players you don’t really talk about contracts, but knowing that our head coach, the guy that calls the shots and that runs our day to day work is going to be here for that amount of time… it shows that the players are performing the way they should and the coaches are performing the way they should. I don’t know when the last time was that this happened in the organization, but that’s very positive, it’s going in the right direction and it’s a credit to the person we have in the head coaching position. It was very, very smart decision on our organization’s part.”
Trent said he was not told of the news by anyone in the organization, but saw it on an ESPN News crawl on TV last night.
