In Takeo’s conference call, which we’ll have posted in the press conference section of Buffalobills.com later this afternoon, he also revealed that he thought he’d finish his playing career with the Bills. Obviously, injuries derailed those plans, but it was an interesting admission from the two-time Pro Bowl linebacker.
“I talk to Mario (Haggan) and (Angelo) Crowell all the time and I told them I thought I would’ve retired as a Buffalo Bill,” said Spikes. “As far as playing out the rest of my years of my contract and maybe getting another contract. That’s what I meant by that. I’m not saying that it can’t happen to retire, but just playing the years out and another deal. I thought it would’ve happened.”
Spikes also called Buffalo “genuine” which is why he enjoyed his time here so much, recalling his game here at the end of 2002 when he was still with the Bengals and Bills fans were recruiting him from the stands. So Spikes memories of Buffalo remain positive and he said it was the first place that felt like home for him in his NFL career.
