I know there doesn’t appear to be a lot that went right for Buffalo in that painful loss to San Francisco, but the defense really had a good day all things considered and they dominate this week’s list.
BEST GOAL TO GO TACKLE: Ko Simpson – The Bills free safety dropped Frank Gore for a four-yard loss on 1st-and-goal from the Buffalo eight-yard line in the first quarter.
BEST THIRD DOWN STOP: Ryan Denney – Denney swooped in and sacked Shaun Hill on a 3rd-and-8 in the second quarter forcing the 49ers to punt.
BEST BURST: Marshawn Lynch – The tailback shot through the hole on the left side for a 50-yard run down to the San Francisco nine-yard line.
BEST BLOCKER: Jason Peters – Buffalo’s left tackle may have had his most consistent game of the season as he was moving 49er defenders out of the way with alarming regularity.
BEST CONVERSION: Derek Schouman – Facing a 3rd-and-14 situation at their own 28-yard line J.P. Losman found Schouman over the middle for a 17-yard completion and a first down.
BEST POUNCE: Derrick Dockery – The offensive fell on the ball at the San Francisco six-yard line after a fumble to maintain possession allowing the Bills two more cracks at the end zone.
BEST HIT: Ryan Denney – His second sack on Hill knocked the ball loose as he forced a fumble, but the 49ers recovered.
BEST SCOOP: Bryan Scott – The safety ran to the bouncing ball after Frank Gore coughed it up and scooped it up without breaking his stride.
BEST GET THE BALL BACK PLAY: Chris Kelsay – On a 3rd-and-12 at the 49er 45-yard line, Kelsay dropped Hill for an 11-yard loss with 2:26 remaining to give the offense another chance to tie the game.
BEST TACKLER: Chris Kelsay – The defensive co-captain finished the game with a team high seven tackles, a sack, two quarterback hits and a tackle for loss.
