Well Wade Phillips has hired his fifth special teams coach for what is expected to be his eighth year in the league as a head coach (you never know what Jerry Jones is going to do).
Former Jacksonville special teams coach Joe DeCamillus got the job. Hope he can handle not getting a lot of practice time each day on the field for special teams because from what I’ve been told not much has changed with respect to how much time Wade devotes to special teams with respect to the practice schedule.
When the head coach doesn’t make it a priority, the players don’t either. This past season Dallas excelled in just one area kick coverage. Almost every other special teams category Dallas ranked in the bottom third of the league.
Phillips has to support his special teams coach with practice time on the field and his own presence during that portion of practice, which didn’t always happen in Buffalo, until after Home Run Throwback that is. Until he does that carousel is going to keep on turning.
