Word out of St. Louis is that the Rams are shopping veteran WR Torry Holt and might be willing to take no more than a third-round pick. Their motivation is to clear cap space and moving Holt would give St. Louis $8M more dollars to work with.
Holt is entering the final year of a multi-year contract and is slated to make $6.65M in base salary in 2009. While the 32-year old might be willing to accept a new long term deal, it’s hard to believe he’d come down much from that $6M per season figure.
Still it’s an interesting option for a team like Buffalo to consider, who could use another veteran on the outside. However, with Evans making top five receiver money and Josh Reed and Roscoe Parrish each making over $2M per season, you wonder how much more the team can heavily invest in one position.
As a reminder the NFL trade moratorium will not be lifted until Feb. 27.
