Keith Ellison’s younger brother Kevin, the safety from USC, just stepped to the podium here at the combine. He said he’s doing almost everything for the workout.
“I’m running the 40 and working out,” Ellison said. “I’ll be doing everything except the jumping. I’m just hoping to do my best, put my best foot forward and see what happens, hopefully run fast and look good.”
Ellison realizes there are some scouts questioning his speed for the position.
“I think that’s the biggest thing, running the 40. A lot of people question how fast I am,” said Ellison. “I’m not a super fast guy, but I’m going to do my best and hopefully get some good times.”
Keith planned to leave him alone this week, but told his younger brother he could call if he needed to do so.
Kevin did say it’s cool to have an older brother to lean on for advice in going through this process. Making it a full family affair, Kevin is represented by their other brother Chris, who is his agent. Chris Ellison is an attorney.
Since Keith is a former safety himself that made the transition to linebacker, Kevin was asked if he could do the same.
“I feel like I’m solid where I’m at,” said Ellison. “He played safety his freshman year, I feel like I’m a safety. I feel I can play there in the league at a high level.”
