Schefter: Peppers will not be a Patriot

Appearing on WEEI radio in Boston Tuesday morning, NFL Network reporter Adam Schefter stated that Carolina franchise DE Julius Peppers would not play for New England in 2009.

That contradicts a report Monday by NFL.com’s Vic Carucci, who stated that preliminary talks between the agent and the Patriots had begun and a deal could be consummated at the league meetings, which begin Sunday.

As much as I respect Vic Carucci, for the Bills’ sake, I’m hoping that Schefter is right on this one.
