Terrell Owens isn’t only getting to know his teammates and Buffalo’s offensive system by working out at One Bills Drive. He’s also getting the lay of the land in the Queen City.
“So far, I’m loving it,” said Owens’ of his WNY experience. “I had a good time up in Toronto, I had a chance to get around a few days here. I went to the Buffalo Chophouse and grabbed something to eat, Tempo last night, so I’m just trying to familiarize myself with the area and get out a little bit.”
Owens said those in Buffalo that have recognized him have been encouraging and supportive.
“People that recognized me, I’ve been in a big parka jacket and a hoodie, so the people that do recognize me, they just tell me welcome to Buffalo,” Owens said. “They’re looking forward to and they’re very excited for the season, and so am I.”
The veteran wideout also has come to expect the critical media attention he gets and realizes there are some that believe he’ll be disruptive for the Bills. His response?
“No worries, no worries,” said Owens. “Everybody nitpicks at anything and everything that I do. But I realize that’s part of it, and in a sense it motivates me and I’m really looking forward and I’m working out hard and looking forward to the season.”
Showing up for voluntary offseason conditioning when he keeps himself in top shape on his own had to be a big boost for his offensive teammates. Head coach Dick Jauron also has to be pleased to see him in town as he spoke shortly after the T.O. signing on what kind of leadership Owens could show by attending the program.
Knowing he’ll be at OTAs now as well, is also a very encouraging sign that he wants to hit the ground running come training camp. Nothing but good vibes on this one.
