All I can say is wow. I never in a million years thought that Bills former number one pick Mike Williams would ever be seen in the NFL again, but he apparently is trying to make a comeback.
In an interview with the Dallas Morning News Williams maintains that he has a “new love for the game.” At 29 he’s hoping to get a chance with a team after the draft. It’s then that his agent will begin calling teams.
Ironically, he’s been training in suburban Washington, D.C. with former Texas Longhorns teammate, and former Bills guard Derrick Dockery, who has put him and his wife up during this attempt to make it back to the league.
Personally I think it’s a long shot. You don’t sit out for two years (not play for three) and then declare you’ve got a new love for the game. I respect him for not making excuses about his forgettable four years in Buffalo, but I don’t see the phone ringing much for a guy who lacked passion for the game.
