The Cincinnati Bengals were shopping OT Levi Jones over the weekend during the draft, but apparently didn’t get any takers. Now Jones’ agent says his client will be released or traded in the very near future after the Bengals snapped up Andre Smith with the sixth pick on Saturday.
Jones is a former first round pick and has had a solid career before injuries began to catch up with him the past few seasons. Jones turns 30 this August. He played in just 5 games in 2006, 15 in 2007 and 10 last season.
When healthy he is an excellent athlete with a good combination of size and athletic ability. He’s got toughness. The only knock on him is he’s not as consistent as his athletic ability should make him. But he’s had a nice career. It certainly is a development that bears watching.
