Bills first-round pick Eric Wood has been putting some extra work in on top of getting acclimated to right guard. He’s taking part in some long snapping work. I caught up with him after practice as he had a bag full of footballs slung over his shoulder ready to put in some more work.
“I worked on it some this offseason as an extra thing to have in back pocket,” said Wood. “It’s going pretty good. It’s coming pretty natural to me. Moving after the long snap is the hardest part because you have to make sure the snap is getting there, but at the same time you’ve got somebody running up your face that you have to block.”
Wood said Brian Moorman hasn’t given him any specifics in terms of where he wants the ball (on his hip, to the right a bit or whatever). And Wood is not considered a challenger for the top long snapping job.
“The coaches have said I’ve been doing fine,” he said. “We’ve got guys that do that as their specialty so I’m just kind of working on it to be a possible backup.”
