Ashton Youboty has been a spectator for the first week of OTAs and it looks like there’s a good chance that will continue for the remainder of OTAs and minicamp. Still not fully recovered from the plantar fasciitis that landed him on injured reserve last season, head coach Dick Jauron confirmed that returning to the field prior to training camp is up in the air.
“He’s getting better and better all the time,” said Jauron. “We just watn to make sure he’s ready for training camp, the start of it. Through this period we’ll just see how it goes, but he’s been headed in the right direction now for a number of weeks and we’re happy about that.”
In Youboty’s defense plantar fasciitis is a condition that is most serious for cornerbacks. Those players have to plant and drive off their feet on almost every play and Buffalo’s training staff has to take an extra cautious approach with Youboty because of it.
It’s basically a wait and see situation for Youboty through the OTA and minicamp period. That’s why I followed up with coach Jauron and asked if Youboty’s chances of returning to the field prior to training camp are “up in the air.” And Jauron said they were.
