Donte Whitner will be hosting his 3rd annual Cancer Strike bowling tournament in his native Cleveland on Saturday, June 6th at the Corner Alley in downtown. This year is an especially significant mark for the tournament.
Whitner began the charity event to raise funding for cancer research after his grandmother Rosetta Whitner was stricken with lung cancer in 2007. Along with his mother, Rosetta Whitner raised Donte as a boy and she attended the first two bowling tournaments.
Unfortunately she will only be at this year’s tournament in spirit as she succumbed to the disease on March 14 of this year despite receiving some of the best treatment possible at the renowned Cleveland Clinic.
A silent auction, prizes and NFL players will be on hand to participate. Last year Bills safety George Wilson and Lee Evans among other participated as did Miami WR Ted Ginn Jr.
For more information on how to register individually or to register a group for the tournament you can call 216-773-9229 or go to Donte’s website.
