In his first practice this morning Jairus Byrd was running 2nd team FS. Seeing him lining up there however, comes with an asterisk.
Bryan Scott was not participating in practice this morning after suffering a mild knee sprain in Saturday’s preseason game. So with Scott out this morning, Donte Whitner moved to starting SS and Ko Simpson moved up from the second unit to play FS with the first unit.
That left the second string FS role open for Byrd to fill. There’s a good chance that will continue even when Scott comes back and Whitner presumably moves back to starting FS. Simpson is the guy who could be the odd man out.
The story on the home page on Byrd’s return this morning has been updated. We’ll also have his interview in our video lounge shortly so you can here just what he had to say following his first practice.
