Unfortunately for a well-liked former Bill, it will be injured reserve for a second straight year for Angelo Crowell.
Already plagued by a hamstring injury in training camp Crowell tore his biceps tendon over the weekend and is now done for 2009 as well.
Teams are always hesitant to take a chance on a free agent coming off of injured reserve. Tampa Bay was only willing to sign Bills free agent Angelo Crowell to a one-year deal after a knee surgery at the beginning of the 2008 campaign cost him his entire season.
The Bills were heavily criticized for not re-signing Crowell, but there is a risk in signing a player that missed the entire previous season due to injury that must be weighed. Buffalo knew more about Crowell’s knee injury than any other club. They chose to err on the side of caution.
Not saying I told you so because I have too much respect for Crowell and his game. Just hoping his career isn’t cut short like his brother Germane Crowell’s was.
