The Bills addition of free agent TE Tyson DeVree was a necessary move.
With Derek Fine on the shelf with a hamstring injury, Buffalo had just three healthy tight ends in Derek Schouman, Shawn Nelson and Jonathan Stupar.
Heading into Thursday’s preseason game knowing Schouman would probably not see much time being a starter, they needed another tight end to help get them through the game.
You wonder just how serious Fine’s hamstring injury might be.
But DeVree looks to be more than just a preseason body. He’s got great size (6’6″ 245) and showed some catching ability in his last season at Colorado when he caught 37 passes for 402 yards and eight TDs.
We’ll see how athletic he is on the practice field today. He’ll be wearing jersey #87.
