Byrd was Buffalo’s leading rusher

Posted by Chris Brown on October 26, 2009 – 10:13 am

Just thought this number from Sunday’s game was worth passing along.

Byrd’s two interceptions were one thing, but his return yardage on both of them is what was most instrumental to the victory.

He had 67 return yards setting the offense up on the Carolina 7 and the Carolina 27-yard lines for drive starts.

His 67 return yards also exceeded Buffalo’s rushing total on offense (53 yards).

Byrd even outrushed Buffalo’s kick returners, who had 63 yards on two returns (Jackson 33, McGee 30).

The rookie free safety is currently 2nd in the league in picks with 5 trailing only New Orleans’ Darren Sharper (6).

Hard to say the guy wasn’t the difference in the game.
