Being in coaching pool is Fewell’s option

Interim head coach Perry Fewell was asked if he should be considered for the permanent head coaching job. As far as he understands it he has the option to throw his hat in that ring.

“This is a great opportunity for me and I’m a candidate I think if I choose to be a candidate for this job,” said Fewell. “But my focus right now is the Miami Dolphins. That’s what my focus will be this week, and next week the New York Jets and the following week the next opponent.”

With it being his option as to whether he wants to be considered for the permanent head coaching position, Fewell was also asked if he’d make that choice at the conclusion of the season. His response was yes, that his decision would come after Week 17.

It’s been presumed all along that Fewell would at least interview for the permanent job after the season is over.
