Bills interim head coach Perry Fewell stuck to his statement last week that the starting quarterback would be a week to week decision on Monday.
When asked if Ryan Fitzpatrick would start again this week, Fewell said he’s going to be spending some more time on that decision.
“I thought Ryan did some really good things in the football game on Sunday,” said Fewell. “There were some things that we have to coach and he has to get better at. There are some throws that he would like to have back. We’re going to evaluate every day who is going to be our quarterback. We’re going to evaluate every week who gives us the best opportunity to be our quarterback. And when we decide we will announce that person as our quarterback. But I thought Ryan Fitzpatrick commanded the huddle, commanded the team and led the team very well on Sunday.”
When asked if Fitzpatrick will be his starter this Sunday against Miami Fewell said the following.
“I’ll make that decision as the week goes on.”
Fitzpatrick had the most prolific passing day in terms of passing yards with 297 against the Jaguars. It was the most for a Bills passer for since J.P. Losman’s 340-yard passing day over three years ago on Nov. 19, 2006. It would be surprising if it’s not Fitzpatrick under center again this week. Based on Fewell’s statement he at least appears to be leaning in Fitzpatrick’s favor.
