Owens after his best game in a Bills uniform honored a request from Jaguars WR Mike Sims-Walker.
After the game Sims-Walker asked Owens for his game jersey. Owens obliged.
“Everybody wants my jersey after every game,” said Owens after Chris Johnson of the Tennessee Titans made the same request the week before. “Obviously those guys have watched me throughout my career. He asked for it and I gave it to him.”
“He’s a great player,” said Sims-Walker. “He’s had his trials and tribulations but everybody goes through those things. At the end of the day he’s a playmaker.”
When asked what it means to him to be respected by younger NFL players in that fashion, Owens cracked a joke.
“It doesn’t mean that I’m washed up,” said Owens smiling. “I take it as a compliment. I can still play this game with the best of them. Just put me in the right situation and I can make plays. I’ve always said that.”
