Frustrated by his knee’s slower than expected recovery from surgery, Terrence McGee is hopeful that this is the week he can return to the starting lineup.
“I feel like I’m getting closer,” said McGee after practice Monday. “To me I’m still type of a day to day type thing, whether I start or do what I did last week. It’s still up in the air, but I feel like I’m getting better.”
McGee served in a fill-in capacity and did get a handful of snaps in the game against the Jets last Thursday night. The problem is his knee still isn’t 100 percent and in the grind of the football season doesn’t sound like it will have enough time to be completely right.
When asked if he’ll have to play with pain the rest of the way, McGee indicated that he would.
“Probably so,” he said. “It’s one of those things where I feel like it’s going to take a while to fully go away so I’m just going to have to play through itm.”
McGee, who has played hurt in the past more than once, has been frustrated by his situation as he hates to watch his teammates play without him.
“It’s just been hard overall,” he said. “It’s not just that (Jets) game, but even in the Miami game watching the guys making plays and you just want to make them too. It’s pretty hard to watch because I want to be out there making plays and helping the team.”
