Two veteran special teamers that excelled for Buffalo’s special teams over the years could literally be colliding come Sunday at 1 pm in the Georgia Dome.
Josh Stamer, who was just signed by Buffalo on Wednesday is expected to jump right back in on special teams where he excelled for five seasons with the Bills. And based on where he lines up on a couple of formations he could come into direct contact with another standout special teams performer from years past in Coy Wire, now a leader for Atlanta’s special teams unit.
“I’m sure we’ll have a few head to head conflicts, but that’s great,” Stamer told Buffalobills.com. “That only brings out the best competitor in you and it’s fun going against guys you know.”
Despite spending 2008 with the Tennessee Titans and parts of this season with a couple of other teams, Stamer believes he’ll be able to re-acclimate himself quickly to Bobby April’s scheme.
“I’m sure he’s changed a few things here and there,” said Stamer. “But hopefully I can step in and contribute in a positive manner out there this Sunday.”
