Jets offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer is getting more mention as a possible head coaching candidate for the Bills head coaching post.
Schottenheimer was mentioned by NFL.com’s Michael Lombardi, who wrote the following in his piece looking at the coaching landscape in the NFL.
Buffalo Bills: To me, the one name that makes the most sense is Brian Schottenheimer, the current offensive coordinator of the New York Jets and son of former Bills player Marty Schottenheimer. Marty and new Bills general manger Buddy Nix have a great relationship, which will help get Brian an interview. His work with the Jets might get him the job.
Schottenheimer is busy preparing for the Jets Wild Card matchup with the Bengals this weekend. The Bills would have to get written permission to interview him this week. Being a division rival it’s tough to say whether the Jets would grant permission.
Brian Schottenheimer has interviewed for head coaching jobs in Miami, Baltimore and the Jets before they hired Rex Ryan.
