The two month timeline for Aaron Schobel on his retirement decision is winding down, but Bills GM Buddy Nix provided an update on the situation.
“Chan has talked to him,” Nix told Buffalobills.com. “The ball is in his court. If he wants to play we certainly want him back. If he wants to retire we wish him the best.”
There have been some reports that Schobel’s March bonus which is fast approaching could prompt a difficult decision on the part of the Bills. But Nix maintains that won’t happen.
“It’s not an issue with us. I don’t think it is with Aaron,” said Nix. “There’s been dialogue with Aaron. I’ve talked to his agent.”
With Schobel due a bonus in March, one solution could be to postpone or move the bonus to later in the calendar year long after Schobel has reached a decision on retirement. Nix said it won’t be an issue and I’m led to believe Schobel wouldn’t consider it a problem either.
Our entire one-on-one interview with Bills GM Buddy Nix will air Friday at noon in Bills Focus on Buffalobills.com.
