Arizona TE Rob Gronkowski, considered one of the top players at his position in this year’s draft class, allowed himself for just a moment to think about what it would be like to be drafted by his hometown team, the Buffalo Bills.
“Whatever happens, happens, if Buffalo takes me I’d be going back home,” said Gronkowski smiling.
The Williamsville native confirmed that the Bills were his team growing up.
“Yes, that was my number one team,” he said. “I was always watching the Buffalo Bills.”
Gronkowski even stated that he would have no problem going to a team that’s rebuilding like Buffalo.
“I don’t mind it at all,” he said. “I like rebuilding teams because if you rebuild (successfully) it that means you came in and helped out the team and made some history of bringing back the team. It would be fun doing that.”
With where Gronkowski is forecast to go in the draft (late first, early second) and the pressing positional needs for the Bills (OT, NT, QB) it’s unlikely that the stars will align for Gronkowski. The tight end said he has spoken to the Bengals, Ravens and Rams.
