Broncos QB Kyle Orton, as expected was tendered a qualifying offer as a restricted free agent.
According to the Denver Post, Orton was given a tender that would command a first-round pick as compensation should he be signed to an offer sheet by another NFL club that Denver chose not to match.
The Broncos also tendered WR Brandon Marshall with a first-round tender, but TE Tony Scheffler received just a second-round tender and could attract interest from other NFL teams. Pass rusher Elvis Dumervil, who led the league in sacks last season was given the highest tender meaning compensation would be a first and third-round pick.
