By no means was it surprising, but C.J. Spiller’s speed and quickness still was fun to watch on the first day of rookie minicamp Friday.
Spiller’s ability to sharply cut away from traffic or zip through a hole was more impressive in person than it was on tape. There was one particular play where the hole he was supposed to run through on a run play was quickly filled by a linebacker. Spiller completely stopped his forward momentum in one step, shifted his entire body into reverse, took two quick sidesteps to the right and accelerated into another hole further down the line.
Late in the afternoon practice he also had an impressive cutback run to daylight. Suffice to say it’s going to be fun watching this guy come September. And like I said, TV doesn’t do him justice.
