Bills third-round pick Alex Carrington is still racking up the college awards. After earning the Sun Belt Conference Defensive Player of the Year award in 2008 as well as 1st Team All-Conference honors the past two seasons, Carrington earned another award from the Sun Belt.

Carrington was named the Male Student Athlete of the Year. Considered the Conference’s most prestigious annual honor, Carrington is the first athlete in Arkansas State history to win the award.

Carrington’s college coach Steve Roberts was not surprised.

“We are very excited that he has received this outstanding honor, and that is a credit to his great character and the wonderful person that he is,” Roberts told the Jonesboro Sun. “Alex’s many achievements, both on the field and off, as a leader on our football team have made a significant impact on our program.”
