Lee Evans has maintained a consistent stance when it comes to picking a starting quarterback and that stance hasn’t wavered entering training camp this year.
When asked about whether it’s harder to gauge the progress the offensive unit has made without a definitive declared starter for the season, Evans made things plain.
“Any time you don’t have a stable quarterback position it makes it tough,” Evans said. “That’s at any point anywhere. I think the faster you get that nailed down, the faster you can really move forward.”
“(Through the spring) we were installing everything and getting comfortable with everything, but once the time comes that things really get serious, you’ve got to go with one and stay with one.”
Evans has been through his share of quarterback changes having played with the likes of a half dozen in his six NFL seasons (Bledsoe, Losman, Holcomb, Edwards, Fitzpatrick, Brohm). He did mention that he’s confident that head coach Chan Gailey and his staff will take the proper course of action as training camp unfolds.
