Reports out of San Diego indicate that talks between the Chargers and 12th overall pick and RB Ryan Mathews are progressing well and a deal could be done before the weekend is out. Could it help move Spiller’s camp along in getting a deal done with the Bills?
According to the San Diego Union-Tribune, talks between Mathews and the Chargers have progressed to the point where there is optimism a deal will be struck in a day or two. Mathews was the second running back taken in the draft three picks after Spiller.
It’s unclear if the Spiller camp is waiting to see what the second RB in the draft lands in terms of a deal before moving forward with their own. One thing is certain, C.J. Spiller would like to be practicing.
Buffalobills.com spoke with rookie RB Joique Bell, a close friend of Spiller’s, who said he has been talking with Spiller by phone.
“Talking to him I know he wants to be here,” said Bell.
