Bills head coach Chan Gailey indicated that having the starting five lined up for Friday night’s preseason opener in Washington may not be in the cards.
“I doubt in this game that we’ll have all five offensive linemen out there,” said Gailey. “You’re trying to create continuity. You’re trying to create focus. You’re trying to create a sense of oneness on that team to be able to be successful. I don’t know if you get that unless you’ve got everybody there intact throughout the whole preseason. So it’s going to be piece meal for us as I see it going into at least the first game. We’ll see after that how it goes.”
In all likelihood that means that Demetrius Bell and/or Eric Wood will not be dressed for Friday night’s game against the Redskins as the team has been careful in the amount of team work given to each of them in the team segments during practice. Cornell Green is also nursing a right leg injury suffered over the weekend.
We’ll likely know more specifics later in the week.
