In Week 1 it’s a game of unknowns in the NFL. Your team doesn’t have a book on the opponent and they don’t have a book on you because most every team plays it close to the vest in the preseason so as not to put anything on tape. That’s why Week 1 is also the week where arguably the most adjustments on the fly take place.
“Yeah, there are definitely more things that you don’t know about and you have to see how they’re playing and then you do adjust on the move so to speak,” said Bills head coach Chan Gailey. “Hopefully you’ve got enough base rules in place that the base rules take care of whatever they throw at you and you’re still able to go execute.”
Fortunately for the Bills Gailey has a good track record in this area.
