The Patriots could be missing one of their key third down options on Sunday when they host the Bills.
Third down specialist and return man Kevin Faulk suffered an undisclosed injury in the New England loss to the Jets last Sunday. According to reports he stayed down for several minutes before limping to the sidelines.
Comcast Sportsnet reporter Tom Curran even reported that the injury could be season ending. Faulk has killed the Bills at times. I still vividly remember his swing pass that he took all the way down the near sideline for a 45-yard touchdown at the Ralph in a 38-7 Pats victory.
His absence would change the Patriots backfield even more. New England traded Laurence Maroney to Denver last week. If they don’t have Faulk in the lineup they’ll be down to Fred Taylor, Sammy Morris and BenJarvus Green-Ellis. Presumable the versatile Morris would fill Faulk’s third down role.
