When Trent Edwards was released on Monday head coach Chan Gailey said that he and his offensive staff wanted to work with Brian Brohm more. He elaborated on that point with Buffalobills.com to explain exactly what he meant.
“Fitz is our starter and whoever is third you don’t get to work with the offense,” said Gailey. “They don’t take reps in practice. They don’t get to throw to the receivers during practice hardly at all. I want to see what Brian Brohm can do getting some reps with the offense (in the practice setting).
“Trying to develop him more and making him better is the goal. It’s to see how we can develop another young player that we don’t know a lot about. He did some good things in the preseason, but we’re trying to find out who can step into roles for us, not only this year, but in the future.”
With Brian Brohm’s contract up after this season, Gailey and his staff want to gather more knowledge on just what Brohm can give this team should he be pressed into action.
