Lions QB to have MRI

Posted by Chris Brown on November 8, 2010 – 9:20 am

According to ESPN’s Chris Mortensen, Lions QB Matt Stafford will have an MRI today (Monday) on his throwing shoulder.

Stafford injured the shoulder in the Lions overtime loss to the Jets Sunday and may not be able to play against the Bills this week at Ralph Wilson Stadium. Drew Stanton would start in his place if the MRI reveals that Stafford’s shoulder injury is serious because backup QB Shaun Hill is still recovering from a broken forearm suffered three weeks ago and served as an emergency third QB Sunday against New York.

The Lions signal caller had just recently returned from an AC joint separation in his throwing shoulder that he suffered in Week 1 against Chicago that forced him to miss five games. The game against the Jets was just his second start in his return from that injury.
