Bills LB Shawne Merriman is still recovering from a strained Achilles and head coach Chan Gailey all but ruled him out for this Sunday’s game as he indicated Monday that he doesn’t expect him to practice.
“I don’t see that no,” said Gailey of Merriman’s chances of practicing Wednesday. “I don’t see that this week.”
When asked if he could play come Sunday, Gailey reiterated his pessimism.
“I’m not confident about this week at all,” he said.
Pressed further on Merriman, Gailey was asked if he thought the linebacker would get on the field at all the rest of this season. At this point the Bills head coach said it’s impossible for him to predict the future.
“I don’t know, that’s a good question,” Gailey said. “I think that would be something that I would have to address each and every week to see where he is and see what the doctors say and see what’s going to happen with that. I don’t know that yet.”
